Hi, good day. I’m Angel and I’m from Taiwan. It just happened that my friends wanted to study English in Cebu, and they preferred this academy so I followed them. My first week in Cebu Blue Ocean Academy is not easy for me because I needed to adapt to the environment here. It’s really different from my country. Nevertheless, I’m kind of used to it now. The staffs are friendly and kind to us (actually, I became friends with them), and this is one of the reasons why it became easier for me to adjust.
To be honest, I thought my knowledge in English was enough considering that I have studied the language in Taiwan. I realized though that I was wrong when I came here. I studied English because I know that it’s useful in our lives like in making friends with foreigners and learning other countries’ culture.
Since I wanted to enhance more my English abilities, I decided to take the IELTS course. IELTS class covers the 4 English macro skills: listening, writing, reading and speaking. These factors have influenced my decision to choose this course.
Expressing My Ideas Confidently
I have 7 classes a day. On my first week, I was scared and nervous because I wasn’t sure whether my sentences are correct or not. However, my teachers are kind and patient in teaching me so I got more confident in speaking my ideas. Even if I have some mistakes in pronunciation, it is fine with me. It only meant that I have room for improvement and by studying harder, I would eventually improve. My teachers actually encourage me to speak more and use the vocabularies we’ve learned in class even though my sentences are not perfect. It is one way to get used to using the English language.
Having Fun in Cebu
At Cebu Blue Ocean Academy, you won’t feel bored studying English. There are many activities in the school, such as Zumba, International Food Day and so on. I also visited many places in Cebu. For example, I went to Oslob to watch whale sharks and to Kawasan Waterfalls in Badian, Cebu for waterfall jumping.
When I go back to my country, I will definitely miss my teachers, my friends and the managers in this academy. The most important thing that I’ll miss however is the ocean. Whenever I go to the ocean for a swim, I feel like a mermaid. I absolutely enjoyed my time swimming in the ocean.
For those who are planning to study English in Cebu or anywhere in the Philippines, I advise that you should not feel scared when speaking in English. I already mentioned that I felt that way during my first week here; however I got to overcome that fear. Listen to your teachers, and you are going to achieve your goal in coming to Cebu Blue Ocean Academy. Enjoy committing errors and learn from them. Good bye! ❤
